Under the direction of Fraunhofer FEP, the research project "TopBePro" was about developing a new process for the production of lateral gradient coating systems. The aim of this research is to produce adapted optical film systems for applications with variable light incidence angle. Particularly challenging were the complex requirements of the coating system. As a result, the scientists have now achieved that different components (precision drive, coating sources, power supply) can be controlled very precisely in terms of time.
As an important basis for project AIS has developed first a program for the measurement of material rate profiles of sputter sources. Firstly AIS has developed a program for the measurement of material rate profiles of sputter sources. Based on this, the calculation of coating profiles on freely configurable substrate forms was ensued by elaborating mathematical modeling under the influence of various process parameters. The expected result is presented very clearly to the user in a powerful 3D presentation.
